About Me

Getting to know me

At my core, I’m an anthropologist. I’m curious about and inspired by people and cultures.

“Heard you say I’m not the baddest b****, you lie.”

- Lizzo
Most people are familiar with anthropology because of the Indiana Jones series or Dr. Temperance Brennan from Bones. I don’t do either of those things. What I can do, however, is conduct research with real people and synthesize insights into powerful stories that shed light on human needs and motivations.
I am originally trained in medical anthropology (a subset of cultural anthropology) and have conducted international ethnographic research in the Caribbean and Ethiopia. During my graduate career, I realized that while I LOVED fieldwork, the realm of full-time academia wasn’t for me. I set out to create my own path in industry and instantly fell in love with the fast-paced, scrappy, and collaborative environment I found.
My training as an anthropologist translates well to solving my clients’ needs because I believe a holistic, human-centered attitude is the key to any work. Whether I’m chatting with women in the Caribbean about the medicinal plants they use to treat reproductive conditions, running around in the Ethiopian highlands asking about family structure, or talking with American kids about how they earn, save, and spend money, I always lead with empathy to deeply connect with others and bring different perspectives to light.
For the past 8 years, I have been an instructor for a variety of higher education institutions, and I consider my students to also be my customers. I prioritize establishing rapport, listening to student feedback, and adjusting my deliverables (e.g., announcements, lectures, activities/assignments, and exams) to ensure my stakeholders’ (AKA my students’) experience is as valuable as the information they are learning.
I live in the Pacific Northwest with my husband and our cat, Bowser. When I’m not wearing my anthropologist cap, I can be found baking (my latest goal is to improve my decorating and piping skills), creating nail art, playing video games (my latest obsession is Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands), and completing the daily Wordle and Quordle.

My Skills

I believe in the fact that learning never stops and I am interested in learning new technologies and programming languages that will help me design and develop a better output in less time.
